Before & After

Mid century armchair

Danish mid century armchair by Borge Mogensen. Unfortunately the leather was too far gone to repair but once stripped it revealed how beautifully made it was. My client came up with a very different look – fabric is Kirkby Design’s Underground velvet piped in bright orange velvet. Very striking!

Wing armchair

Modern traditional style wing armchair in it’s original dark blue damask. Re-covered in lovely soft Mulberry Home plaid chenille with new cushion. Altogether a smarter but more snuggly chair!

Contemporary bar stool

A number of chrome high stools used in an office environment. The shell seats were re-padded and covered with another one of Kirkby Design’s Underground velvets which just happened to be the company’s corporate colours.

1950’s cocktail chair

Original 1950’s German Cocktail chair. The chair was stripped back to the frame as it had a moth infestation, treated and then rebuilt with spring unit in seat. Covered in William Morris linen which my customer had been keeping for a special project.

Victorian armchair

Traditional Victorian armchair bought at auction had to be stripped back to frame before being completely rebuilt. I used only traditional methods and materials, e.g. hand tied springs, hand sewn coir pad, horse hair and calico, topped with new feather seat cushion. Customer choose a lovely textured stripe by Colefax & Fowler.

Child’s wooden armchair

Small but stunning. This child’s wooden open armchair had a new leather padded back with nail trim and deep seat cushion fitted. The client decided on a fabulous patterned velvet inspired by origami.
